Printmaking Magic

Oxford Printmakers Exhibition – March 2024

Printmaking is a very diverse, creative and exciting way of making images.  I have specifically explored Collagraph printing for this exhibition.  I really enjoy the experimental nature of plate making and the unpredictable nature of this form of printing.  I like its abstract quality with emphasis on texture, colour and shape, and have aimed to create imagery evocative of childhood holiday memories exploring the Cornish coastline.

A Place for all Seasons

West Ox Arts Exhibition – January 2024

‘A Place for All Seasons’ is a journey through the changing seasons at Kelmscott Manor. As well as regular visits to the house and grounds, I was also inspired by a letter which Rossetti wrote to his mother, speaking of the garden as a ‘perfect paradise’ – ‘The walled garden was filled with flowers familiar from Morris’s pattern designs, and beyond there was a meadow filled with bluebells, apple blossoms, and birdsong; rooks in the elm trees; blackbirds in the garden; and doves on the roof…’

Corvids

Oxfordshire Artweeks 2023

My chosen theme for this exhibition was Corvids. I have an ongoing fascination for these very intelligent, but often much maligned birds.

Crows and their ‘cousins’ in the corvid family are often regarded as tricksters and thieves and appear in mythology and fables. My work aimed to explore and celebrate these enthralling creatures using subtle tonal relationships of colour and texture.
